We’ve had a busy four years. You told me you wanted safer streets, less chaos at City Hall, more information about projects in your community, and so much more. And I’ve worked with you to get it done.

Here’s what we’ve accomplished, together.

Public Engagement

Established annual Ward 8 Town Halls
Ran annual public budget meetings
Sent monthly bilingual email newsletters
Did extensive public engagement through social media
Established Ward 8 Council to engage with community leaders from our local community associations
Hosted pop-up Councillor chat events
Held many public meetings about park improvements, road renewals, planning
applications, and other subjects
Held public meeting with Ottawa Hydro that resulted in more tree trimming, completion of Bells Corners substation, and reduced brown outs and black outs

Improving Council Accountability and Governance

Worked with Council colleagues to improve the Code of Conduct
Voted against the City’s return to office mandate, and lobbied against federal government RTO.
Voted against the Landsdowne 2.0 expansion
Moved a motion for finance staff to establish multi-year budgeting
Moved a motion to delay the Lansdowne 2.0 discussion to allow more discussion and public input
Moved motions to improve the role of Advisory Committees at the City
Led the City’s preservation and improvements to the Community Partners Insurance Program, supporting community associations and events
Worked with Councillors and staff to improve the City’s voluntary donations policy for community benefits
Organized a tomato seedling give-away
Held several public meetings about park improvements, road renewals, and other subjects
Got the City to replace aging garbage trucks that were leaking
Established regular reporting meeting with OC Transpo Leadership
Worked with West End colleagues to deal with construction issues
Moved a motion to create transparency and accountability for the City’s public engagement strategy and methods with the public
Moved a motion to ensure that red light camera revenues will be spent only on road
safety programs

Improving How We Get Around

Initiated temporary traffic calming measures implemented at over 100 locations across College Ward
Established the first joint Temporary Traffic Calming- Neighbourhood Traffic Calming Project in Ottawa
Pushed for the four increases to the frequency of Route 88 service
Initiated the first cycling lanes under the Transportation Master Plan 2023 on Fitzgerald
Worked with City and Province to include safe active transportation infrastructure on the Highway 417 overpasses as spans are replaced at Maitland, Woodroffe, Pinecrest, and Bayshore
Worked with staff for new sidewalks on Bel-Air, Checkers, and Garfield (completed)
Initiated safety improvements to Maitland/Glenmount/Erindale intersection
Protected left turning lane at Lisa and Greenbank
Initiated the leading pedestrian interval added at Greenbank and Ashgrove
Requested the painted ladder markings installed at several intersections (Greenbank/Lisa,
Perry/Meadowlands)
Initiated the new safe pedestrian crossing at Baseline and Rockway Crescent – public consultation and design in 2027
Worked with staff for new sidewalks on Westbury Rd, Fellows, Red, and Parkway Dr near Terres-des-Jeunes Elementary School
Worked with staff for new sidewalks on Gemini Way

Liaised Envirocentre and Pinecrest Public School for Active Transportation Audit and Recommendations
Installed "No U-Turn" signage in front of Agincourt School
Moved a motion creating a Community Safety Zone on Maitland Avenue between Baseline
and the 417 interchange
Moved a motion to review and reprioritize sidewalks and traffic calming around new public school catchment areas
Installed new ladder markings at the Holly Acres, Richmond, and Nanaimo intersection
Installed new left turn signals at Northside and Robertson, and at the Queensway Carleton Hospital
Worked with Meadowlands Public School and Abraar School to get no parking along Fieldrow Street

Smart Development

Started the Baseline/Merivale Secondary Plan
Started the Algonquin Secondary Plan
Improved Complete Streets policy through the Transportation Master Plan update
Revitalization of CityView ditch stormwater system
Moved a successful motion at Council to seek federal and provincial funds to build storm sewers in CityView
Moved improvements to the tree cutting policy
Prioritized the Baseline Rapid Transit project, Algonquin Station to Heron Station
Initiated the City partnership with Algonquin College on their Capital Master Plan
Worked with staff for the purchase of 100 Constellation for future development
Worked with staff for the New Wildlife Specialist position to support wildlife mitigations as part of new development
Ensured we got new staff positions to proactively anticipate stormwater management issues in infill neighbourhoods
Worked with communities and MPs to advocate for protections to the South Corridor greenspace and continue to do so
Organized the official opening of the Pinecrest Stormwater Management Pond
Increased the number of electric vehicle charging stations at Mary Pitt Centre
Began the Reimagining Robertson Road project and moved a motion committing city resources to the project
Worked to preserve the Community Benefit Charge which invests in communities facing new developments
Worked with staff for ditch Maintenance and Culvert work on Arnold Drive

Hosted Bellwood Estates residents to support tenant advocacy, liaising with ACORN, Bylaw and Fire Services
Successfully advocated for ongoing operational funding to support the growth of Matthew House, along with partner organizations
Identified several illegal short-term rentals
Advocated for $2.2 million budget for renewal at the Peter D. Clark Centre
Advocated for late submission timelines for Vacant Unit Tax
Assisted the Hollyer House opening in Bells Corners
Helped advance the Julian of Norwich and Jami Omar Mosque housing projects
Supported Algonquin College building new student residences on campus
Advocated for alignment of building code, bylaw, and planning surrounding rooming house permissions, compliance, and monitoring
Supported a motion to have site plans as a requirement for buildings 12 units and over, rather than 10 units to help speed up approval processes
Advocated for age-friendly housing options in mature neighbourhoods
Fought for affordable housing options as part of redevelopment of 100 Constellation

Welcoming Neighbourhoods

Supported residents after the Canada Day floods with clear information, advocacy for funding relief, garbage pick-up support, and public engagement
Assisted and supported residents after the 2023 Ice Storm and coordinated community supports, food drop off, roadway clean up, and more
Protected residents’ ability to garden and install Little Free Libraries on the Right-of-Way adjacent to their properties
Organized College Ward’s first community skating parties
